Coronavirus learning for the health and care workforce

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) programme has been created by Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH) in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. The programme, which can be accessed here https://www.e-lfh.org.uk/programmes/coronavirus/, includes key materials to help the health and care workforce respond to Coronavirus. LKS Outreach Newsletter

Issue 5 of our newsletter for all our Community, CCG and General Practice staff is now available on our Outreach page. This special issue concentrates on #COVID19 resources for #PrimaryCare and also how to access resources remotely. Although the library team are now working from home we are still able to support you.

Service Announcement

24 March 2020

From Wednesday 25th March all Library and Knowledge Service Staff will be working from home until further notice. The library will still be accessible to anyone with 24 hour access and you will still be able to borrow and return books via our self-service machine. If you use a PC please remember to keep your distance and wash your hands after use. Library Staff will still be available via email and our current awareness service (Knowledge Pages), literature search service and document supply (journal requests) will all be carried out as normal. All of our online resources will still be accessible via NHS OpenAthens. We have put together a short guide on the resources that you can access and how to access them. We hope you will find it useful but please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or problems. We may not be in the Library itself, but we are still available to help.

The Library Team are still working in the Library and ready to help you with your requests. However did you know that the library is open 24/7? Did you also know that you can access the library resources from any computer - including your home computer? If you want to access the physical library outside of our normal opening hours then you need to be a member. Once you have joined you can request 24 hour access which will usually be granted within 24 hours. There is a self service machine located at the side of the enquiry desk where you can issue, renew or return books. You will need your library PIN and Username, which will have been emailed to you when your joined. If you can't remember them, please contact us and we will send you an email reminder. We've put together a short guide on the resources that you can access and how to access them. We hope that you will find it useful in these difficult and extraordinary times.  

COVID-19 Resources

Access to the GIDEON (Global Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Online Network) has been enabled for ALL NHS OpenAthens accounts until the end of April. Organised into two online modules (Infectious Diseases and Microbiology) and in the context of the spread of COVID19, this resource provides a tracker to identify areas and countries with cases and the number of cases, epidemiological reports and clinical infomation. To access this resource please click here and login with your NHS OpenAthens ID and then click on Gideon, which is in the menu at the top of the page.
