The year 2020 has certainly been challenging on a personal and professional level for surgical trainees. Many of us have been redeployed to work in less familiar specialities pushing the boundaries of our professional abilities in order to ensure safe care for all patients during this global pandemic. Educationally, life has changed dramatically. There has been disappointment from the cancellation of membership and fellowship examinations, conferences and courses. However, during this time online webinars, virtual meetings and courses have flourished, demonstrating that despite difficult times enthusiasm for teaching and education has remained steadfast.

As the BAUS Section of Trainees (BSoT), we have all experienced these changes together and we are grateful to the BJUI and BURST to have a platform to share our plans on how we continue to support trainees as we move through the ever‐changing phases of this pandemic.
