We had a fantastic response to our annual survey - from both users and non-users - so thank you to all those who responded. Your responses really do help to shape and improve the service we provide to you. Here are just some of the comments that we received:

For those of you who don't follow us on social media  (why don't you? ), we announced the winner of the £25 Amazon voucher at the end of June https://twitter.com/STHKNHSLibrary/status/1410161463914795009 and https://www.facebook.com/STHKNHSLibrary/photos/4136231569789912. Juliana Ang was delighted on being told she had won .

We had a lot of questions/comments and that is what this blog is about. We have produced a short report with your question and our responses, but here is a taste of the questions/responses:

Q. I don’t need to use the library
A. Are you doing a course? Are you helping with an audit? Writing a presentation? Working on a policy or SOP? Trying to keep up to date with the latest reports and guidelines? Looking for information for a patient? Working towards revalidation? Need a quiet space to do some work? Need help finding a piece of research or journal article? Want a break and something more relaxing to read? These are only a few of the things we can help you with. Browse our website to find out more about our services or email us if you have any questions. We’re here to help and can do more than you think…

Q. I thought the library was only for clinical staff and students
A. The LKS provides resources and services to ALL staff and students no matter their role. As well as clinical subjects we have management and leadership books, study guide books, job interview books, a small fiction section and our Reading Well (self-help) collection. Take a look at our catalogue to find out more. If you’d like a quiet place to work away from your ward or office, we have plenty of computers and study desks.

Q. I’m too busy to use the library due to the Covid-19 pandemic
A. A recent Health Education England report shows that library services can give you the ‘Gift of Time’. Getting evidence into practice is vitally important to ensure that patients get the best treatment and service possible. But it takes time and effort - time you could be spending with patients. Let the LKS find the evidence you need by completing the Evidence Search request form on our website. In addition, you can sign up for our Knowledge Alerts which bring the latest evidence, news and guidance in your specialty to your desktop or mobile device. You will need to register for an OpenAthens account if you don’t already have one.

Over the next couple of weeks we will also be adding some of these to our social media, this gives you the chance to add any comments you have. Of course we always welcome feedback and you can also provide that via the contact us form.
